A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Neha and part of why I love working with kids is all thanks to my psychology degree from college. I used to spend a lot fo time in my clinical hours during my senior year with children and working with them in after-school programs. I'd also engross myself in various child psychology courses so that I may be well equipped in the future for graduate school specializing with kids! Another job that helped me get introduced to kids was being a lifeguard at one point. Not only was I on safety call for kids at the pool, but even a couple instances where I had to save children either from drowning and/or issues on pool deck (ex. abrasions, head collisions, pool amenity issues). This opportunity really helped with creating personal connections and keeping kids safe. Not just the academics to it all, but I have many younger cousins I would hang out with all the time and take them on outings. Please let me know if you would like to discuss anything more related to the position!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My degree came from UNC Charlotte in a Bachelors of Science in Psychological Services. After-school programs for special needs in elementary school was my internship placement 2 - 3 times a week for 3.5 months. We would listen to guided dance party playlists, draw, sing, and all types of fun activities to keep them engaged in the play!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

A statement activity that my little cousins used to love when I would take care of them was diving into art work! While it took patience, they really got into their little projects they became so invested in. Examples would be water - color, coloring books, or simply just doodling. Another notable activity is playing outside or going to the park with them. I am an athlete which means I love to be moving around at all times and would always love bringing the kids with me. This not only meant they would be outside away from screen time or in-house play, but also make nap time smooth sailing!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I find the most important part of being a nanny requires understanding, warmth, and patience with the kids. They are remarkable and fun to be around, but also, I find it's important to provide the same care as the parent would. Not only that, but also every child will be different to work with and taking the time to understand them is the best place to start before diving into the fun things. They deserve to feel heard, safe, and loved even as someone who is stopping by to take care of them.
