I have a passion for traveling, which allows me to learn about and appreciate other cultures and traditions.Born and raised in a small village in Limpopo, South Africa, I come from humble beginnings. From a young age, I was taught valuable life lessons such as independence, maturity, respect, and humility. As a fun-loving, energetic, intelligent, and outgoing person, I enjoy connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. I hold a diploma in Engineering Studies and have worked with several companies before moving to America(places I’ve worked Idaho,Michigan & New Jersey. My true passion lies in childcare, which is why I chose to become an Au Pair/Nanny. I'm confident in my ability to provide top-notch care. Ultimately, my dream is to open my own daycare center, where I can nurture and educate young minds. I'm excited to embark on this new chapter and explore the opportunities that lie ahead.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time with the kids I care for, tailoring activities to their ages. With younger ones, I enjoy visiting playgrounds, playing hide and seek, engaging in pretend play, and running around – whether it's just for fun or playing a sport like soccer. I believe this encourages kids to be active. Visiting the library is another favorite activity, as I think reading is an excellent way to learn. Reading to younger children helps them develop pronunciation skills and understand new words. Swimming has become a favorite activity too, as I learn new techniques to share with the kids. Other activities I enjoy include learning about local history and visiting museums. This helps kids develop knowledge about the area they live in. I also enjoy cooking and baking, which are fun activities to involve kids in. They learn about ingredients and the process of preparing meals.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me it would be Ensuring children are physically safe, watching them closely, childproofing the environment, and knowing basic first aid. Secondly… patient, compassionate, and attentive to a child’s emotional needs. Building trust is key. And thirdly Regularly updating parents about the child’s activities, moods, and any concerns. Transparency builds trust.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working with children with special needs, which has taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of individualized care. I focus on understanding each child’s unique needs and abilities, providing support in a way that encourages growth, independence, and confidence. It’s incredibly rewarding to help them reach milestones and see them thrive in their own way.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment as a nanny is when a child I care for achieves something new like taking their first steps, saying their first words, or completing a small task on their own. Being there to cheer them on and witness their growth makes all the hard work worth it. Those moments of pure joy and connection remind me why I love what I do.

Katelyn H. - Seeking Work in New York

Live-In Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in New York, NY: Katelyn H.

I dont have children of my own but I have years of experience with newborns, toddlers and young children. I strongly dislike how ipads have become a form of babysitting and love to keep children busy with the outdoors, their imagination, and simply just by being present and attentive as they play. I like to create fun crafts/games that incorporate learning, such as upcoming holidays and basic age appropriate skills. I also know basic sign language to be able to teach kids to communicate before they're able to speak. I can provide referrals if needed.
