The most important part about being a nanny is genuinely caring for the whole child—not just keeping them safe and fed, but also honoring their feelings, curiosity, and unique little personality. Also as a mom I can definitely say that is building trust with both the child and the parents. A child needs to feel safe, seen, and loved, even on hard days. When that trust is there, everything else falls into place
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with special needs children includes babysitting my friend's child, who is on the spectrum. He loved playing the same games over and over, and I was very understanding, playing patiently with him each time. I learned that repeating familiar activities made him feel safe and happy, so I happily followed his lead without rushing or forcing change. That experience taught me the value of patience, attentiveness, and meeting a child where they are.

My favorite nanny moment and always has been is calming a crying baby. There's something deeply rewarding about holding a fussy little one, gently swaying, and softly humming until their tense little body relaxes with my nurturing energy, I create a quiet, safe space where the baby feels heard and soothed.
