I'm leaving my corporate sales job to nanny while I finish my degree to practice as a psychotherapist.

My sales job taught me a lot about serving others, so I look forward using those skills to make sure your family is cared for and content and your household running smoothly while you're away. I suspect my experience as a teacher, camp counselor, camp director, babysitter, big cousin, and aunt will also come in handy. :)

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playing outside, going for walks, arts and crafts, games, occasional movies, homework help and more! I love learning about each individual child and what he/she enjoys. They are incredibly creative and innovative.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe my job as a nanny is to ensure children are happy, healthy, and thriving while their parents are working or away.

I also believe it's my job to ensure the household is running smoothly, including household chores, so that parents can focus on spending time with their children when they come home instead of worrying about dishes in the sink.

My experience with special needs children...

I was an unoffical OT when I was in high school for a non verbal autistic boy from the time he was around 9 until he was around 11. We had structured time together where I would guide him in completing his exercises, completing chores, enjoying some play time, and more.

I'm also a former teacher, so I have experience with students of varying needs and ability levels. I believe all children have unique gifts, and it's my job to help them learn about their gifts and nurture those gifts so they can thrive!

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments was when I was engaged in an OT session with the young boy who was non verbal and autistic. It was very rare he would make eye contact and/or say a word like, "hello." There were a few times when he looked me in the eyes and had a great big smile on his face or others where he waved to me and/or said "hello." It felt like confirmation that our time together was a success and that he was benefitting positively from it.
