My second nanny family included a 3 year old boy who had some anxiety when in large groups. His parents enrolled him in swim lessons to help him socialize. Being in these groups made me realize, I became a safe space for him. The first time he grabbed my hand in an uncomfortable situation, I knew that he was comfortable with me. It was the most heartwarming moment to provide him a little bit of peace while encouraging him to branch out.
