I believe the most important thing about being a nanny is making sure that the child has the care and support system that they need to grow and thrive in. I believe another important part is making sure the child has a good foundation for learning so that school is an easier transition and less of a scary prospect.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with children who were on the spectrum during a summer camp. I made sure that while they were getting the care they needed they were not treated differently than any other camper.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the cutest and sweetest moment I have had watching children was when I was working at the summer camp and we were able to introduce the kids to mulan(cartoon version). The way some of the kids lit up and just were mesmerized by the characters was amazing. I always tried to make sure we watched age appropriate movies with a diverse range of characters in them.
