As someone with a younger brother on the spectrum, I have grown up watching my brother and was able to grow alongside him. I have volunteered in Church classrooms for toddlers and young elementary students, as well as have 5 plus years of babysitting experience ranging from age 3-14. I was also a party princess where I performed for children’s birthdays and spent plenty of time interacting with young kids.

I love having art projects ready to go to do with the kids! Whether it’s coloring, finger painting, or even a little craft. I love playing outside and doing sidewalk chalk, playing in sprinklers or even just throwing or kicking a ball around. My goal is to make sure the child is having fun and is able to express their creativity.

The most important part about being a nanny is being able to build trust with the family as well as creating a bond with the child. I love being able to be an advocate for their feelings and show respect to them. It’s important to validate their emotions and be a friend, but also take care of them and love them through any hard moments.
My experience with special needs children...
My little brother has SPD (sensory processing disorder) and is on the autism spectrum. I’ve learned how to deal with the anger and tantrums, how to calm him in times of distress, and how to keep them focused when they are overstimulated.
