A little bit about me

I'm Olivia! Going through High School and College I babysat/nannied and loved every moment of it. I then graduated and started work in the "big world". I miss the "at home mom" job, and feeling the joy of actually doing something beneficial with my time. I am looking to get back to Nannying with a great family! I will be coming from out of state, which will be such a new adventure. I am open to conversation about any and all topics. I look forward to hearing from you!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have cared for children all through my teenage years through my adult years. I worked with a company at a group home with five women with behavioral and mental disorders, so I am well versed with special needs and behavioral disorders as well. If it weren't for me to be in the profession I am in now, I would still be doing something with children or young adults today.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love being outside. I believe that being outside as much as possible is the best remedy for anything (making sure sun block is in the mix *especially for me*). The best memories I had as a little girl with my babysitter was playing outside. Whether it was hopscotch, bubbles, walks, making up different games... We had a great time. Along with outdoor activities, I love to do creative indoor activities too. Anything that keeps the creative juices flowing, and the mind off of the negatives of being outside - we will definitely do!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is knowing that the children are in safe and caring hands. That knowing day one you may be their enemy, but day whatever they could be calling for you because they're scared and they trust you. It's about making a child feel comfortable and safe with you and knowing you're doing your job. It's the last minute call from a parent to bring the child to their game, and the child watching you cheer them on. It's the child knowing that their parent always has someone there for them - not in place of them, but to make sure someone is always there. It's knowing you're doing everything you would've wanted for young you to have in a nanny.

My experience with special needs children...

In the past I have had experience working with Special Needs adults. Growing up in school, I was lucky enough to have the special needs children incorporated into our classes all through our school years. Looking back I saw this as a wonderful opportunity for all of us. I ended up gaining a life long friend from what I believe was an experiment don't by the school. My friend inspired me to obtain the job that I had with the adults. I will forever have the biggest heart and passion to work with Special Needs Children, and understand many sitters are uncomfortable, but I am highly willing to be the sitter for you!

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment I've had is when I had put "the baby" to bed when "mom" got home after a long shift at the hospital. I always like to double check the babies room before I leave for the morning to make sure everything is in place because I don't want to have anything disturb moms sleep! I do my last check and close the door quietly, and whisper "sleep tight!" and head back out into the kitchen to meet again with mom. I wait a minute and then mom comes into the kitchen and says: " when you shut the door to "babies" room and said sleep tight, she whispered back to you, i love you!!!" She thanked me for being there for her and her daughter as they were going through a rough time in their lives. I was happy to be able to be there for the few hours a week I could to make the transition of everything smoother. It made my heart smile.
