Hello, my name is Olivia king. I’m 24 years old and currently live in Minnesota. I graduated from University in the year of 2021 with a degree in psychology and a focus on child development. All my life I’ve Nannied and post graduation I realized that child care is a passion of mine and I’d like to make a career out of it. For the past 2 years I have been nannying for a family of 3 children (6y/o, 3y/o & new born). I have loved every minute of working with this family but it’s time for me to make a change in my scenery. I would love to fulfill my dream of living in Florida and being warm year round. I am hard working, loyal and prompt, imaginative, patient, very organized, and beyond experienced for any family. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I started babysitting when I was in highschool on the weekends. When I began college I was doing full time nannying over the summers, which began the love for nannying as a career. Since graduation I was a Mental Health Behavioral Aide(MHBA) for elementary aged children at an all special needs school called lionsgate academy. I worked as an MHBA for a year and realized I still really wanted to nanny. Since then I have been nannying for the same family for about 2 years. In this role I care for 3 children, ages 6, 4, and 2months.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Because I work with special needs children, I enjoy implicating sensory activities outside and inside, including water tables, “magic nature potions”, slime experiments, and much more. Every day outdoor play is super important to me, I enjoy teaching children to garden, taking them on picnics and taking fun mini hikes along with so much more. I’m very creative and crafty and love to help children tap into their imagination. For example on rainy days I have created large forts and themed snacks, and the children are free to create any play scheme of their choice and I will 100% of the time get goofy with them. Overall I have a lot of energy to bring to a house and a lot of ideas.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters most to me about being a nanny is showing the kids how to not take life to seriously just yet and focus on imagination and play. Of course structure and routine are important but I believe there’s nothing more valuable that allowing children to tap into their creative side and by doing this they can unlock really great problem solving skills, independence, and a really fun, silly and personable personality.

My experience with special needs children...

I have vast experience with special needs in general but even more experience with special needs children. I studied child development In college and with that interest I began working at an all special needs school post graduation. I had direct experience with uniquely different diagnoses and learned a lot about how that taylors children’s IEP’s. Since working at that school I have become a nanny for a 4 year old with Down Syndrome for 2 years. As her nanny I have learned so much and gained very valuable knowledge regarding her education, physicality, mental abilities and all the therapies that can be implemented to ensure she is set up for success and independence. It has been by far the most rewarding experience of my life.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment has been working with my current family, specifically with the little 4 year old with Down syndrome, on her speech and hearing her finally be able to formulate words after two years.
