A little bit about me

I have 4 younger brothers and grew up taking care of children! I love working with kids as it’s become a big part of my life. I’ve mostly worked in the babysitting and education field but I’m hoping to find a more permanent and reliable placement. I am currently 21 years old, and a certified Personal Care Aide through the Minnesota Department of Human Services. This has allowed me to connect with children who need a little extra support and love. I also worked as an Early Learning Tutor through the AmeriCorps program and I'm a co-teacher in a childcare center (where I am currently working on my Child Development Associate Certification). I'm also TEFL certified and able to teach English (as a foreign language; so to non-native speakers only) to all age groups. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I started out in 2016 babysitting for three different families. Their ages ranged from infant to about 12 years old. Though I'm not currently in college, I've taken a few early childhood education classes from SCSU. After the high school and college classes, I moved on to be an early childhood tutor through a school district and then an assistant teacher in a childcare center. The district setting allowed me to be in classes with up to 20 students ranging from 4 to 6 year olds, and the childcare center setting allowed me to be in several classrooms ranging from 6 month olds to 6 year olds.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love taking kids to play outside at parks, run through sprinklers, play outdoor games, or go for walks. I also play board games with them inside and we can also do other activities such as coloring, watching movies, or reading.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important aspect of working with children (outside of physical and emotional safety) is being considerate of their thoughts and feelings and teaching them what to do with their emotions in a safe, age-appropriate way. Communication is key and builds trust between the kids and a new nanny.

My experience with special needs children...

I've briefly worked with children who had: diabetes, cerebral palsy, and ADHD. My experience and time with them was brief, but I am a quick learner and very flexible.
