My grandson lived with me in his early years. He would come to the kitchen in the morning looking for oatmeal which i taught him how to make. He was staring into the water on the stove. I pulled him away and told him, "a watched pot never boils!" From that moment on he would wait for the water to boil on the other side of the kitchen.
