More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked with children at my high school through a mentorship after-school program where I tutored them. I also have hands-on experience in childcare, including babysitting for family and friends, where I’ve developed skills like organizing educational activities, maintaining routines, and fostering a nurturing environment for children of all ages.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some of my favorite activities to do with children include:

Arts and crafts: Encouraging self-expression through drawing, painting, and DIY projects.
Outdoor play: Organizing games, nature walks, or park outings to stay active and explore.
Storytime: Reading books together to spark imagination and foster a love for learning.
Music and dancing: Singing songs, listening to music, or having a dance party to boost energy and joy.
Educational games: Incorporating fun ways to build problem-solving skills and curiosity.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where children can thrive. This means not only ensuring their physical well-being but also fostering their emotional, social, and intellectual growth. A great nanny builds trust and connection with the children and their family, adapts to the unique needs of each child, and helps create routines that balance fun, learning, and development.

Being a nanny is about making a positive impact on a child’s life by being a reliable, compassionate, and engaged presence they can count on every day.

My experience with special needs children...

I currently work at YAI (Young Adult Institute), an organization that supports individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. At YAI, I assist young adults in building essential life skills, fostering their independence, and ensuring they feel supported and empowered in their daily lives. My role has taught me invaluable skills, such as:

Patience and empathy when helping children navigate challenges.
Adaptability to tailor activities and communication to meet individual needs.
Creative problem-solving to find engaging ways to encourage growth and participation.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with families and team members effectively.
In addition to my professional experience, I’ve developed a passion for creating fun, safe, and enriching environments for children. I enjoy planning activities such as arts and crafts, sensory play, outdoor games, and reading to encourage creativity, learning, and joy.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments happened with my baby cousin, Alisha, during a cozy afternoon at home. She was having a fussy day, so I decided to try something different to cheer her up. I grabbed some finger paints and set up a little art station in the kitchen, covering everything with paper to keep things tidy.

At first, Alisha just stared at the paints, unsure what to do. I dipped my finger into the blue paint and made a little swirl on the paper. Her eyes widened, and she giggled before plunging her tiny hands into the colors and smearing them everywhere.

Before I knew it, we were both laughing and covered in paint, and Alisha had created her very first “masterpiece.” She looked up at me with the biggest smile and said, “Pretty!”

That moment reminded me of the magic in simple joys and the importance of letting kids explore and express themselves. It was messy, but seeing her light up with happiness was worth it.
