I worked as a para at Ellinwood Grade School, a para substitute (I got to experience different environments in different classrooms), a teacher at an after school program (TLC DISCOVERIES), A floater at a daycare (0-5 years of age), I have cared for a few of my friends' kids at my house ( 2 of the kids, I watched for 3 or 4 years). I have lots of experience!!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
taking walks (weather permitted) or any outside time even if its just playing in the yard, doing arts and crafts (my favorite!), reading, and playing games that also teach them things such as colors, numbers, shapes, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I am a kid at heart, and I love any excuse to do kid stuff and be silly and my favorite part is the arts and crafts! To me keeping them safe, clean, fed, and happy is the most important! I treat all kids like my own! They are our future! Its so rewarding all around!
My experience with special needs children...
The only experience I have with special needs children is when I substituted as a para in the autistic room at Eisenhower Elementary School in Great Bend KS in 2021. I am still interested in getting my bachelors degree in Early Childhood and taking special education classes.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When I watched 2 sisters and had my 2 kids, we would always go outside in the summertime and play in the sprinklers! I would also get water balloons and we would have a water balloon fight or water guns! We also did a lot of outside crafts! I would let the kids collect outside objects (within reason) and then we would figure out what to do wtih their collections once we were back at the house! We had lots of fun!
