A little bit about me

I am 47 years old. I have 6 kids who are all grown and doing wonderfully. My oldest is a graduate from Sac State has her B.A. in Bio- cultural anthropology. She runs a multimillion dollar leasing company, Greystar down in San Diego. I have a lot of patience and practice honesty at all times.I learned how to deal with special needs children from experience. I did sessions teaching a couple of kids that were severely autistic and could not speak. I taught them how to do music and art. This became one of my aspirations to create a non profit. They not only learned how to speak but also respect. It took me three months to accomplish this. I've learned that fostering things children are interested in makes them happy and well adjusted. Adhering to a schedule and showing them how to follow thru on things also creates a good work ethic later on. I appreciate you looking at my profile. I look forward to hearing from your family soon.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Mendez Family I cared for their 4 children ages 8, 5, 3, and 1. I took care of them Monday thru Friday 6 am to 7 pm. I took them to school helped them with homework. Did housecleaning and helped the kid as pick up their rooms. We used to play a lot of games and had a couple family outings and BBQs. I loved working for Josiah and Jane Mendez they were very good employers and their home was very warm and inviting. Their children were very well behaved and very smart.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love playing games either inside or outside. I like going to the park and taking them outside to play . The more they get their energy wound down the easier it is for their parents to just relax and enjoy them when they arrive home from work. I also noticed kids love making messes right? So painting and coloring are a part of my repertoire. I also like listening to music and having dance parties. Kids seem to enjoy this and actually love art and music. I also bake with them if their parents are ok with that making cookies or jello animals is a good way to get them involved and let them be creative!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I love kids...they are our future! We need to foster within them basic and fundamental ideals for good morals and values
If you teach a man to fish he can do that for his lifetime...this is what I try to do is teach them how to listen be patient and kind. I do not put up with rude children I will give them a better way to federal with the problem or person than being rude. I do not spank but I do use timeouts. Or removal of privileges. If there is anything you would like to see me do in dealing with the discipline portion of dealing with your child please let me know and I will comply. I love communication and being open and honest. So we as a unit should be able to convey anything we are having problems with..

My experience with special needs children...

I work well with kids with special needs especially ADD, ADHD and autistic children. I have a way with kids with Autism because they automatically feel comfortable with me. I understand them in ways most don't. And I'm able to handle their outbursts and get them to calm quite easily! I am also adept at keeping children. With ADD and ADHD focused and on track. They seem to listen pretty well to me because I let them feel like it's ok to be different. I also know how to wear their energy down so they get a peaceful nights rest. So if you have a special needs child please get in contact as I may be able to give you a little bit more of a break than your used to and also may be able to help your child feel like the world is ok and they are ok.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was taking care of an autistic boy he was 7 and his name was Justin. When I first started to take care of him he didn't speak he would throw himself on the ground to get attention and would hit to get what he wanted along with grunting at you. By the time I did some music and art sessions with him and introducing him to his colors number and alphabet, I took it upon myself to teach him words. This little boy blossomed he was speaking by the time I left him saying "thank you" and "please" and his colors and numbers....he picked up on speech very quickly all I had to do was be patient and understanding. Employing being super repetitious is a really good way for them to understand concepts and for consistency of thought.

Hi! I'm Kayla Arellano.

I have many years of experience working with children of all ages, including those with special needs such as mild to severe autism and ADHD. For the past five months, I’ve been providing childcare for a child with autism, which has deepened my understanding and strengthened my skills in creating a supportive, engaging environment. I’ve also volunteered and worked at various summer camps, and have extensive babysitting experience — references are available upon request.

I'm more than happy to help with light housework and cooking — whatever helps keep your home running smoothly!

I’d describe myself as friendly, patient, and highly adaptable. I'm available all day, every day, and I’m excited to share that I can start as soon as June 4th.

I’d love the opportunity to meet your family and see how I can support you as a nanny!
