I worked at a daycare for about 6 months, before that I did baby sitting jobs in my teens & took care of both of my younger siblings. I help out with childcare for close friends as well.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When it’s warmer outside the best thing I like to do is take them out to parks for walks and adventures!!! Going to fun forests and such to explore the outside world! If you have very active kids running around the house, possible activities like pretend, reading stories, arts & crafts, treasure hunts, baking, cooking, turning everyday tasks into fun activities! Feeding into what they enjoy so that they are able to have a good time and possibly learn something while we are at it.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The kids. Overall safety & happiness is what matters most. If the kid is safe & having a good time it’s a good time for everyone!!!
My experience with special needs children...
I currently work with a family with a special needs child. I try my best to cater to things that they’ll enjoy and keep them interactive. If they don’t like to do much just interacting with them and just being a person present and talking just so they don’t feel alone even if they don’t want to / can’t do much. In High School I spent a ton of time taking classes like “Peer PE”, “Peer Foods” and made a ton of friends. Had a great time with them and learned that everyone is different in their journey but we can always have fun.
