Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have taught science and robotics to grades k-8. I have worked with special needs including ABA work, cerebral palsy, and Deaf children. I have been an in-school shadow for children with behavioral outbursts. As well as, running a daycare with 14-18 kids at any given moment. And I was a full time nanny during covid for 2 young boys. I've done it all!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Creative play is my favorite! Give us a cardboard box and some markers, we will be in outter space before you know it! Recently I have been recruited as a full time "princess" and am now skilled at tea parties (even though I prefer dance parties). Building is a to go for me, I love putting things together and watching the kids figure out how it all works. I am a strong believer in daily outside time, so the park or nature walks or swimming. Meal time is also a wonderful learning experience, and another one of my favorites!
My experience with special needs children...
I have been trained in ABA for kiddos with autism and the like. I have been heavily involved with the rehabilitation process of a girl born with cerebral palsy including her PT, OT, and speech. As well as, a new born discovered to be Deaf. Her therapies were different even though they were still referred to as PT, OT, ans speech. I am loyal to whatever program the family finds works for them and implementing play therapy in between!
