More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a teacher assistant in Seattle. There was a class of 13 students of 2-3 year olds. Most of the new student turned 2 within a few months of the school year. I helped create and execute lesson plans where we covered 5 different categories: language/ literacy, fine motor, gross motor, social-emotional, and cognitive. Each month there was a new topic with a different focus every week. Every month there was also a color and letter of the month that would be incorporated into the lesson plans. Students would go outside at least once a day, if not, twice. Students would be put down for nap midday. We prepared snacks twice a day along with lunch in between. I also helped with potty training and changing diapers. Besides working in my main classroom, I have experience as a float working with children between the ages of 1 and 5.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to get creative with children by preparing art projects for them. It could be anywhere from writing “letters” to their parents to constructing paper tool belts. I also love story time and getting children really engaged by changing my tone of voice throughout the story. All these activities are so important for the developing brain! When I’m outside, I love to play games where it gets the children to really move their bodies like having dance parties or having them or me be a monster, zombie, etc. chasing after one another.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part is to make sure the children are enjoying themselves, of course in a safe setting. To be engaged and be able to connect, those are the key factors. There’s nothing more satisfying when you see the trust being built, it provides a comfortable environment for everyone. It makes this type of work not feel like work.
The most important part about being a nanny...
While work at the preschool, one of the parents had told me that I was on their Thankful tree. It was before Thanksgiving and their daughter had told her family that she was thankful for me. Another favorite moment was recently when I came back to the preschool to substitute. The first 30-45 minutes I was showered with love and hugs by all my old students. To see the pure joy in their faces by just seeing me, it’s such a heartfelt feeling I don’t think you can feel by anyone else.

Part-Time Nanny Available in Bellingham, WA: Kendra S.
During high school, I was in a Teaching Academy class which gave me the opportunity to teach at my old elementary school. I interned at the 4th grade age level and loved it. I have always loved kids because I have two younger brothers that I have cared for since they were born. Since graduating high school I pursued a degree in Elementary Education for the endorsement of K-8 & the major of Special Education. I am attending Western Washington University to get my degree. I hope that when I graduate, I will become a middle school teacher. Some other experience is that I've also helped at my local daycare. I would cook, feed, and do whatever was needed to help the provider out when she needed it. With all that I have also taught in several classrooms in Whatcom county. While doing that I also nannied several families. I have had lots of experience working with children of all ages and abilities.

Hi there! My name is Emily and I’m a warm, creative, and dependable 26-year-old. I graduated from Western Washington University in 2023 with my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, and have been working with children for over six years. I first discovered my love for childcare while babysitting in high school, and after a few summers with kids I knew it was my calling.
Most of my experience is with preschoolers, though I also love caring for infants and supporting their rapid growth. I’ve worked as a full-time Preschool Lead Teacher for two years, and before that, I gained experience as both a nanny and assistant teacher. I’m CPR and First Aid certified, have an updated portable background check, and use my training in child development to connect theory with practice.
My style blends structure and fun. I enjoy reading, crafts, outdoor play, and outings, while keeping routines consistent.
Outside of work, I love kayaking, swimming, crafting, and traveling.
