Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked at a Christian based after school/summer program in Camarillo for 3 years. The program had 190 kids on average, allowing me to have 14 children I watched on my own. Creating arts and crafts, new games, and fun field trips! During the school year, I took van routes picking kids from school. I would help with homework, and manage parent pick-ups.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Arts and crafts is always my favorite; however, I love being active with sports and games. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, so I always take the opportunity to help someone learn. I recently just picked up cooking and baking as well!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny for me is giving the child the opportunity to come to me in a judgment free, open space with anything and everything. Allowing the child to feel comfortable in my presence with all emotions and internal battles.
My experience with special needs children...
At the after school/summer program we had a wide range of children with special needs. It is different with everyone; however, with lots of patience and a listening ear a lot can be resolved.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The children at the program loved pickles, and every month we would have a pickle day! We would take a trip to the store, pick out pickles and have a pickle picnic.
