Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Lifeguarding allowed me to interact with children of various ages and genders. I have also held a few in-house daycares while I was in high school.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
going to the park, painting, any sports, arts & crafts, and anything the kids enjoy doing! I also love cooking & teaching the kids about different foods! I really appreciated that my parents introduced me to a multitude of different foods so if it’s ok with the family, I love to get creative & mix up with the kiddos!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being able to enjoy time with kids while making their parents' lives easier! Nannying brings so much joy to so many people!
My experience with special needs children...
I was a PALs mentor for a 2nd-grade girl with high-functioning autism, we got along very well and her teachers said I seemed to calm her down and keep control of any stressful situations. Also in PALs I was paired with a 3rd-grade boy with low-functioning autism. Coloring really relaxed him so we did LOTS of coloring! I've also nannied a 12-year-old girl with severe PTSD, ODD, and ADHD in regards to mental needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was babysitting once and one of my kiddos actually took his first steps while I was working, I added his mother and father to a facetime call so they could watch along, it was an awesome experience!
