I've volunteered at a Somerton church to watch over children. In the summer time we'd have a week long camp and I was one of the teachers providing them with food as well as class.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love all sorts of sports! I find it's a great way to let out our energy. Other activities I do are board games, card games, toys, video games, drawings on paper or with chalk, puppet shows, reading them books, playing tag, verbal games, hide and go seek, and whatever else we might come up with. I adapt to all children's interests.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Keeping children happy and safe. It should be a nice experience for them. After all it's already hard on them to be without their parents present so they'll be needing extra attention. I wanna let kids feel they're loved and acknowledged, inspire their passions and give them compliments. But I'm also one for balance. If the chances are given, warnings made, then I'll be willing to set stern yet healthy time outs as they're needed. Spankings, studies have shown, don't work for young kids. I myself find it cruel when there are better ways out there that actually work. Kids are a lot smarter than some realize and I think being able to have balance is what makes our job the most important part.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a little cousin who I used to care for that's autistic. I understand the importance of taking medication, healthy outlets and regular surveillance through this experience.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When my younger cousin learned how to write. We were sitting together on the bed and she couldn't wait to show me. She was still learning the alphabet but it made me so overjoyed to see her spell my name and mama on a notebook. It showed just how much she's grown up and so fast too.
