More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I currently work with special needs students ages 6-10, and have worked with 11-14 year olds as well. I have plenty of younger cousins ages 6-14 that I’ve babysat. I used to babysit a bit in high school for family friends.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing art activities with children—drawing, finger painting, collage, playing with clay, doing crafts, making jewelry. I love playing tag outside, exploring in the park, whatever outdoor play children show interest in doing. I also enjoy dancing and cooking with them too.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is staying present. Keeping eyes on the children at all times is obviously essential, but it’s also necessary to be attuned to what their needs are in the moment. Just like adults, kids just want to be understood and heard. It’s important to listen and stay present with children.
My experience with special needs children...
I currently work at a special needs elementary school. Our population is mostly students on the autism spectrum that are nonverbal/semi-verbal. I work one to one with a student who has epilepsy, ADHD, and a learning disability. Through the DOE, I’ve done certificate courses on working with children with autism and various disabilities.
