I once babysat for a family when the mom was in labor. While playing with blocks, I told the children that they could show their mom their amazing creation when she came home. The girl then said, "Yeah... IF she comes home..." My heart broke! Thankfully, I was able to get the children to understand that mom was, indeed, going to come home. I will always remember this moment because it showed me how much of an effect that a babysitter can have on children.
