Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have always had experience growing up with many siblings and large age gaps. I have currently been a mental health assistant and caretaker for 3 years for adults and children. I work in a hospital and have seen and experienced a lot of different patients. we have children who do live there with special needs as-well so I am capable of taking care of some one who may not be fully able to do everything themselves. Taking care of other is a huge passion of mine!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love singing music, playing outside. I enjoy doing little arts and crafts the most. I even like to play video games as well. I also make up games to play sometimes. I have to teach groups for children now, so entertaining is something I’m used to. I really enjoy bringing smiles to their faces!
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me the most important part is keeping children safe happy and healthy but I take safety very seriously. With my work history and work now I am always on alert because some children can be violent so protecting the children is the most important thing to me!
My experience with special needs children...
I currently work in a behavioral hospital which specializes in mental health and autism. I also have worked in the psychiatric unit as well so I am never surprised anymore. I have learned to communicate with children who are non verbal. I also understand outburst and different coping skills to help get through to them during a crisis.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment is when I have children draw me pictures and write me letters. I love when they just show appreciation for me and it’s okay even when they do not.
