More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Caring for the children of a family with whom I've since become very close, because of their four children's attachment to me.
Caring for the children of other close family friends, as well as my early adulthood which I spent caring for my four younger siblings while our parents were away at the hospital, sometimes for multiple months.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Outdoor activities are a favorite of mine, I feel the kids have the most fun in that environment, and it allows them to blow off steam without breaking any family heirlooms!
I also enjoy home crafts and activities where the kids get to have fun and express themselves while also remaining in a closed environment with controlled resources. Safe fun all around!

The most important part about being a nanny...
Safety, as well as adhering to, and guiding the children towards following the household rules holds great importance. I also highly value the relationships I'm able to form with the children I care for.
My experience with special needs children...
During my employment at Little Tiger's Academy, I have had almost as many children with special needs as I have without. I was of course proud of my director's high thoughts of me, which lead her to decide that I was the teacher best equipped to help those kids who need more care than others.
Outside of the classroom setting, I have cared for special needs kids several times, including a sibling group of four, each with various learning disabilities and difficulties, as well as serious anger management issues.
I also cared for a sibling group of two, the younger of which had mental deficiencies.
I feel deeply that these experiences have helped to make me a more patient and attentive caregiver.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I tend to teach my students by concept repetition, such as consistently pointing out the weather, etc.
Recently, I taught my students the difference between sharks and whales.
They would bring me sea creatures, and I would tell them what it was. I explained how to tell the difference (a dorsal fin and a tail that sticks up for sharks, and no fin and a sideways tail for whales). The game was tiring for me, especially after being brought the same shark 8 times, but the kids loved it.
One day, one of my students was playing with a fish-shaped cookie-cutter for playdough, and he said, "Look, Miss Randa, It's a shark!" I explained that it was a fish, but he shook his head. "No, Miss Randa. Look, it has a tale like this and a fin!" I was so proud!
These stories mean the most to me. I’ll always love sweet kids melting my heart with bear hugs. But moments like this show me that I make a difference in these kids' lives and that they understand what I’m teaching them, which is what I strive for.
