More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked as a live-in nanny for 3 kids under the age of 10! (Ages 2, 4, and 8.) I did this for 1 full year while also working full time at Taco Bell.
I don't have 'official' experience but I also lived with my aunt after she experienced a medical emergency and helped care for her 2 young children, ages 4 and 6.
I was also raised taught to help care for kids as I was the oldest child amongst cousins and siblings by several years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Anything! I love cartoons, doing art, singing, music. I'm not super musically inclined when it comes to instruments, but I did play clarinet for a time, and it's always fun to learn! If the kids want to learn, I'm happy to help. I enjoy playing games outside, taking them to parks, and also on day trips to do things such as go to the zoo, science city, city museum, petting zoos, or any number of things where they can safely and happily have fun and learn new things. I enjoy doing arts and crafts, I like learning trivia facts, and taking any opportunity I can to have fun. It'd be nice to teach them how to find self-motivation for things like cleaning and doing tasks by making it fun and interactive in their own way! I want to help kids learn in the best possible way they are equipped to, and have fun with any child, whether it has to be gentle downtime playtime for sensory issues, or if they have a lot of energy and need a bunch of enrichment! Kids are versatile, and so am I. :)
The most important part about being a nanny...
The kids. Their safety, their well-being, their being comfortable with who they're being entrusted to. Children are at a very fickle stage in life where it's hard for them to fully grasp the situations they're in, the people they're around, and the feelings those situations and people invoke in them. Kids don't have as many tools to communicate how a person makes them feel, and sure, kids are bound to have a tantrum now and then, but kids have an intuition, just like the rest of us. If that intuition alarms them, though, many aren't at the stage to convey that outside of being upset. I want to make sure the children are safe, happy, comfortable, and I want to teach them the tools they need to convey these feelings and thoughts they have. The world is dangerous, and has continued to grow more so over the years. To me, it is most important as a child caregiver of any kind, to ensure that these kids have the tools and knowledge they need to convey when they feel uncomfortable, or unsafe.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for a child with developmental disabilities that caused him to act out, but I found that he very, very much enjoyed one-on-one time where he could sit and listen to music while I cleaned and spoke with him, or stepping away from his siblings to help me cook meals! He enjoyed having the attention, and it made him feel safe and comfortable to talk, chat, and play rather than to antagonize his siblings or try to force the attention. If you pay attention to a child's needs and how they respond, it's less difficult to help them feel happy and regulated. These children aren't intentionally being stressful or troublesome, the situation can be a lot to handle, but they, themselves, are struggling to handle what they're feeling and communicate what they need. I've learned patience and thoughtfulness along with gentle said but sternly enforced boundaries and rules go a long way!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite thing about being a nanny is helping the kids be happy, and seeing them grow into their bigger-than-them personalities and attitudes. I understood what it was like growing up without really any positive forces showing how individualism and personality are good and healthy outside of my grandma, and I want to be that for kids! I want to show kids that just because you have big feelings, or you're a bit silly, or you enjoy 'childish' things, that you still deserve the right to respect and be yourself! Colorful hair doesn't make a thoughtless person, who one loves doesn't make that person bad. I want to help human kids learn to be human, with empathy, kindness, and knowledge!
