A little bit about me

I was a nanny for 3 families in Boston and Marion, MA,. as I saved for grad school in childhood dev't and ultimately pediatric speech language Pathology. Kids were 6 weeks to 13 . Very responsible and I completely enjoy play and teaching though play. Energetic and fun, compassionate and tuned in to social , emotional, academic, physical needs (special needs). Organized and great at multi tasking. My phone or social media will never be an issue. It has no place when caring for the safety and well being of children. Their childlike outlook filled with wonder should be encouraged through interaction and never stifled due to a caregiver glued to their phone. I am a mom to 3 and I stand behind the statement that I'm often convinced that they've taught me more about optimism and gratitude and what's truly important ... days when seeing a butterfly or beautiful daisy brought a smile to one's face and an ice cream cone at the park on a sunny day was the perfect choice for time well spent!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Safety...lots of love...and tons of fun. It's crucial one ensures children are safe at all times and attended to without the distraction of being on one's phone unless absolutely necessary. I have a no device policy I follow. Children deserve and need our full attention and yo feel tended to and loved. Interacting with kids through play and simply being near them and tunes in is integral. Fed, clean, dressed appropriately for the weather , sticking to the family schedule and silly time are elements I absolutely consider must have.

My experience with special needs children...

As a licensed speech language Pathologist, I've had the pleasure of working with and caring for children who present with various syndromes (i.e. Downs ), receptive and expressive language, articulation, phonological, flueny and pragmatic disorders . Also children with autism , emotional disorders, motor planning disorders , traumatic brain injuries, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When a very reserved 3 year old amazing little girl first felt comfortable enough with me to come approach me while I was bottle feeding her younger brother, quietly stand next to me, and finally gave me a spontaneous hug and said I love you ...this made me cry happy tears
