The safety and well-being of the child or children and daily consistent communication with the parents or guardians . Being a team where parents and child care professionals work as a team. Where the child care professional knows exactly what is expected of them allows more consistency for the child or children. Children thrive if their environment is clear on the expectations required of them from authority figures. Each child will require their own unique communication style in order to find the ideal schedule, activities, and school work.
My experience with special needs children...
I am a teacher and a life-long advocate to the Special needs community. I was very young maybe not even 6 when I began to accompany my grandmother (Teacher of 40 Years) a special needs teacher. Many moons later, I was ready to pick a major and it took me less than a minute to feel it was my path.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite memories typically involve organically recognizing and celebrating the differences between our cultures. I was so proud of both children as they became more brave and fell in love with nature/playing outside. Of course our love for music and dancing was not only fun but a unique lesson for them. They continued to grow and became independent while the fear & insecurity present in both children no longer held both children prisoners of neglect and lack of love.
