Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I've worked as an afterschool daycare supervisor, working hands on with students afterschool. I've worked as a part-time babysitter, a paraeducator in middle schools, and a private nanny.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

While indoors, I love crafting or creating art with children, as well as teaching them about food and cooking -- appropriate activities dependent on age. When outdoors, I love to explore, so going to parks or the beach and looking for sea glass and sea shells, and going to local farmers markets.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being a nanny to being open-minded and understanding. All children are different and requires different outlooks, and it's important to be able to look at a different perspective and try to understand where the child is coming from. This lets the child feel understood and listened to, and allows for open honest communication on moving forward for problem solving, various activities, and different responsibilities that the child may need to perform -- getting ready for bed, doing homework, cleaning up after themselves.

My experience with special needs children...

I was a private babysitter for a child with Down Syndrome, only when extra help was needed. I assisted in diaper changes and feeding. This child was pretty self-sufficient, so outside of that, the child didn't need extra help.

I also worked as a paraeducator in middle schools for students who were emotionally disturbed. This required me to provide 1-on-1 help to regulate emotions, homework help, and also assisting the teacher in the classroom.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My most favorite moments was reading to the childl I nannied. Every night before bed, we snuggle in close and read a book, typically books I read when I was that age, and I loved watching their reaction to certain moments. I also loved cooking with the child. One day, we made pizza and they were so proud of themselves for having made something. I also took this child to the farmers market for the first time and watching the surprise and fascination of locally grown food, and trying fresh strawberries for the first time was truly amazing to experience.
