Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked as a teachers Aide at a preschool of children ages 2-6 after completing my child education classes. Here I supervised, comforted, taught, and played with the children. We played outside a lot, I like to read to them and teach by playing. I prepared their snacks, helped them with meals, put them down for naps, and accounted for them. I also checked the children in and out from their parents so I do have a lot of experience with talking to the parents and answering their questions.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
In the past, I have enjoyed organization of themes for each month, including age appropriate education by play. I have completely organized playrooms with efficient flow, logic, fun, and goals! My favorite resource is a sensory table! Throughout the day I am tidying, preparing for the next event of the day, and usually taking the children to multiple events each day. For example, swim lessons, smoothie dates, park happenings, beach days, gymnastics and music classes, ballet, soccer.. I created lesson plans, outdoor activities including exploring tide pools, children's museums, nature walks, garden exploring, yoga, and alternate language practice. I have taught 4 year olds how to read and write in both print and cursive. I also love to learn with the children.. so if there’s something you were hoping they try, we could try it together! I love picnics and long deep talks with toddlers.
The most important part about being a nanny...
is making sure the children feel loved, comfortable, valuable and safe with me.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with several children with undiagnosed neurodivergencies. I myself have ADD combined with OCD tendencies rooted in childhood trauma. I have learned how to use these differences as a super power! As a child, I faced many challenges in my mind that we’re unexplainable and I am exceptional at observing this struggle in children and doing everything I can to help them learn to work through it!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is when I haven’t seen the kids for the weekend and I come back on a Monday morning! All the hugs, pure love and, “Rhyen!!!!! I missed you!!!”. I also love when children tell me stories about what happened when I was gone. Or when they see something that I would like and point it out to me, “Look! It’s your favorite animal Rhyen!!” 🤍
