Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy a variety of activities that promote both fun and learning. I love taking kids outside to explore nature and visit parks, as it encourages physical activity and social interaction. Art activities like painting and crafts are also a favorite of mine; they allow for creativity and self-expression.

I’m particularly fond of sensory activities, such as playing with kinetic sand, water tables, and play dough, which help with fine motor skills and sensory development. With my major in speech and language, I have a passion for incorporating language development into our playtime. I enjoy working on phonics and sight words in a playful manner, making learning engaging and enjoyable for the children.

I believe the most important part of being a nanny is fostering a nurturing and supportive environment that promotes a child's overall development. Having a minor in family and child studies, I understand the vital role that communication and emotional support play in a child's growth.

Being attentive to each child's unique needs and interests is key. This allows me to create engaging activities that entertain and enhance their language skills and social interactions. My experience with special needs children...

As the parent of a child who is deaf, I have a personal understanding of the challenges and joys that come with supporting children with diverse needs. In my professional role, I have worked with several students on the autism spectrum and have also had the opportunity to teach a deaf child in my classroom.

Currently, as a lead teacher, I actively participate in Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings where we collaboratively set goals tailored to each child's unique needs. These goals are focused on achieving developmental milestones, and I take pride in creating inclusive and supportive learning environments that cater to all children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nannying moments occurred on my second day with a child I cared for from 15 months to 18 months. I was still getting comfortable in my role, feeling a bit nervous, but eager to connect with him.

We went into the backyard, and I introduced him to a game of "kick the ball." He ran after the ball with excitement, but after a few tries, he started to get frustrated when he couldn’t quite kick it as he wanted. Sensing his frustration, I picked him up and playfully showed him how to kick the ball.

His face lit up with joy as he kicked it for the first time! It was such a rewarding moment for both of us, as I saw his frustration turn into laughter and excitement.
