Like I said in my bio, I am currently a nursing student in college. I am only a freshman but my past work experience has greatly boosted my abilities.
I have also worked and lived with children who have either been in the foster care system or any kind of abusive history. It is always delicate but I do have experience in that area, if it is needed.

I love doing arts and crafts, baking, and playing with kids! My mom is an artist so I grew up with a lot of creative activities that I can happily pass on!
The most important part about being a nanny...
What matters to me as a nanny is consistency, communication and respect. Unfortunately in this field you do run across some difficult families and I do try to avoid that as much as possible. My schedule is very open and flexible [as of right now], so I can deal with some change in plans, but I do ask of parents to try and do their best to talk it out with me. If there are days/times that need to be changed last minute I totally understand- life can be wild. I just ask that it doesn’t get to a disrespectful point.
My goal when working with families is to become, as close to as possible and reasonable, a positive contributing member! Let’s all just be on the same team :)

My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with dozens of children, ages varying widely, who have special needs/physical and/or mental disabilities and the advanced elderly (including dementia).
Patience, routine and a solid support system are the main requirements when working with a family who has a member that requires a higher level of need than typical. I excel in all of those categories. It took experience but at this point in my life I have learned to be flexible and work with the family as much, or as little, as they need from me.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I have had many LOL moments while nannying. My favorite that comes to mind right now is the time that I walked away from an eight year old to go to the bathroom, for no more than two minutes, and I come back to a completely naked child covered in SHARPIE.
