More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I've nannied quite a few children, and even provided care for high-schoolers and older adults who simply needed a little extra help throughout the day.
I have the most experience working with 1-4 children that are school-age.
I volunteer at my church with Sunday School, children's choir, and any camps and VBS activities that we have.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
For outdoors, I love going on nature walks and challenging children to observe the world around them and feel that they are a part of the world. I believe that outdoor time is so important for a child, mentally and physically. Any thing that gets them moving and away from screens for a few moments is wonderful.
For indoors, I always bring 1 or 2 games that I'm certain the children will enjoy. I've got a plethora of prop-free games that can be played in a living room that will engage them mentally and physically.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe that the most important part of being a nanny is engaging a child mentally and physically. Every game played should have a purpose. Every activity should make them think creatively, academically. We form ourselves by how we respond to things around us. It's important to make sure a child learns about their world, and their place in it.
My experience with special needs children...
I've cared for several kids who were ADD/ADHD.
I've also cared for a couple kids who were on the Autism Spectrum.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I remember the first time I went to a family, the youngest of their 3 kids was too shy and did his best to avoid me. He didn't speak a word to me the whole 5 hours I was there. The second time I went, when I stepped in, he yelled my name at the top of his little lungs and lunged to hug me! I couldn't believe it was the same little boy from the week before. It was a joy to care for him and his siblings!

To tell you a little bit about myself, I would describe myself as caring, patient, and great at understanding and communicating needs. I've had years of nanny experience from babysitting friends' kids. My mother herself has been a nanny for more than 20 years since she came to the US. I've gained a lot of skills from seeing her interact with children >1 month through up to 10-year-olds. I am currently a student at Oakton Community College. I am majoring in Psychology, going into my sophomore year.

Part-Time Nanny Available in Niles, IL: Vanessa P.
Hi there!
My name is Vanessa. I am excited to transition from a babysitter to a nanny. I have six years of experience caring for children. Aside from babysitting, I currently work in healthcare as a "Certified Nursing Assistant" and a "Medical Receptionist". I have worked in orthopedics, pediatrics, and urology.
I started babysitting with my family, I looked after all three of my siblings. During college, I babysat for my high school teachers.
In healthcare, I worked in the "Pediatric Intensive Care Unit". Providing mental and emotional support, along with a physical service to the families will teach you many things. That connection you make, of trust and care with them is incredibly unique.
I'm looking for a job that will make me feel trusted and valued. I want nothing but the best for everyone. All parties involved, should feel supported and cared for.
In my spare time, I like to be creative. I paint, solve puzzles, build sculptures/figurines and the occasional DIY project.
