Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I think there is so much to gain from being outdoors. Whether going for a walk, playing outside, swimming, hiking, or anything else, nature is an awesome playground. I also love coming up with engaging crafts, themed-nights (movie-night, pizza-night, around-the-world-night), cooking/baking, and much more!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Three words come to mind: communication, trust, and respect. The power of communication can transform a relationship with an individual, particularly children. It is always my goal for the child to convey their emotional and physical needs, feelings, and emotions in a comfortable environment. They must trust you can be confided in, and listen to what they are brave enough and comfortable to tell you. Another vital thing I live by working alongside children is that they deserve the same level of respect I hope to receive. I am not at a higher level than them, I am their to protect and take-care, but I would never treat them in a way I would not want to receive in return. To be approachable, personable, and empathetic can make all the difference in a child's life.

My experience with special needs children...

My cousin has Level 2 autism and I have babysat their family from the age of 12. I understand the importance of creating an effective and comfortable level of communication between you and the individual. I also know the importance of not only being able to communicate in a way that is appropriate and meaningful to them, but also how to read their needs given what is not always verbally expressed. It is not always what is said, but sometimes what is not. I also volunteer with children with varying intellectual and physical disabilities and have aided in bedside manner and provided activities during medical treatment.
