More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I am the oldest child so I started helping out my parents with my siblings, then I began helping out my moms friends and my aunts with their kids, such as babysitting for date nights on the weekends or watching the kids while they were at work. When I began working at a restaurant a few years ago I met many people and also started to help them out with their kids after work whenever they needed. I met my best friend at my job who is also my boss and a single mom. I began to help her with grocery shopping, organizing, cooking and watching her sweet little son while she worked. I realized that was something I've loved doing and am very good at!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I always enjoyed being outside, so when watching kids I always love taking them outside for walks or going to the park. With younger kids I love to play with bubbles outside or playing with their outside toys like their bikes or water tables, I find it so rewarding to watch them experiment with things outside and learn new skills and seeing them so excited and proud of themselves. Another thing I've always done with kids I watch is dance parties, I love jumping around and seeing their cute little dance moves. With older kids I very much love doing crafts with them. That was always my favorite thing to do with my babysitter growing up and as I am older now I still love doing crafts but never have the time for it. But I still get so excited doing it and I love seeing the kids love what they make and displaying them around the house or in their room always makes me smile.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important thing about being a nanny is making a connection with the kids. When you have connections with the kids you can push the kids to try new things, and experiment and learn. Watching the kids learn, and have fun, along with becoming more comfortable with you is the most rewarding thing. And once the parents can see the connection and the good environment the nanny has created with the kids, the parents can work and get the things they need to get done without having to worry and allows them to come back home and get to spend quality time with their kids knowing they have been in good hands all day, learning and having a good time!
My experience with special needs children...
I took a class throughout High School called Unified Gym. In this class we worked with students of many different disabilities. We learned how to accommodate gym class and different sports in ways so everyone would be involved and participate. I worked with all different types of kids and learned a lot! I found in that class that I have a passion for working with kids and kids with all types of disabilities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When I think of my favorite nanny moment It's so hard just to pick one. But I think one of my favorites was cooking with my best friend's little boy for the first time. He was always a kid to ask for many different foods and when I make them and sit him down to eat them, he doesn't want that anymore. One day he asked for a smoothie, So I sat him at the counter with me and took out all the ingredients, and had him put all the fruit in the cup with me and even had him scoop the yogurt with me. Seeing him focus on making his food while smiling and laughing was the best! He loved it so much he even wanted to clean the mess with me and put everything in the dishwasher. When it was time to eat the smoothie he ate every last drop. Ever since then, that has always been our thing, every time he is hungry he insists on making it with me, and every since he has always finished his food with no hesitation and making new types of food with him is my favorite thing ever!
