A little bit about me

Hello!

My name is Sadie Sakellaris and I am 23 years old! I just moved to Austin about 4 months ago for a new job but I am originally from Boulder, Colorado!

Before moving to Austin, I graduated from the University of Arizona (May 2023) with a degree in Psychology & Neuroscience and a minor in Spanish!

I have been speaking Spanish since I was about 8 years old and have a strong passion for the Spanish language and culture, so much so that I’d love to teach your children some of what I know!

I have been nannying and babysitting since I was about 12 years old, starting out as a "mommy's helper" for my next door neighbors. My love for kids has grown more and more as I've gotten older and because of that, I am very interested in finding some reoccurring babysitting gigs around Austin! My specialty is babies 0-18 months and children 2-12!

Please contact me and let me know how I can benefit you and your family! I look forward to hearing from you ◡̈

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

See my LinkedIn for relevant experiences… My LinkedIn is https://www.linkedin.com/in/sarahsakellaris

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading books, making arts and crafts, taking them to the pool (I am a certified lifeguard as well), cooking and baking, watching movies, playing board games, hide & seek OF COURSE, going to the park, playing sports outside, dancing, singing, the list goes on and on! I’m still a child at heart so :))

The most important part about being a nanny...

I personally believe the most important parts about being a nanny are trust, reliability, and passion. Trust is one of the most important elements to effective communication and I value having a truthful relationship not only with the parents I work for, but also with the kids I work with. Reliability is another huge factor that I value as a nanny. I have always been big on being punctual and ready to work when it’s my time to shine. I think it’s incredibly important to not only be reliable but to also be dependable. If I give you my word, I will keep my word. Ultimately, I have always adored spending time with babies and children. I am an only child myself and I have a passion for working with children. This is something that I think is incredibly important when working with children, regardless of their gender or their age. I don’t just want to show up and make money, I want to show up and bring a big happy smile and a positive attitude to your family’s home :))

My experience with special needs children...

While pursuing my psychology and neuroscience degree at the University of Arizona, I was a peer mentor for a program called “Project Focus” which encourages non-degree seeking special needs students to attend university classes, learn the importance of gaining their independence, and create lifelong friendships with their peers and mentors.

When I was still in high school, I worked with a little boy for about two years who had Autism when he was 7-9. I also took care of a little girl with Down Syndrome for three summers in a row when she was 4-7.

In addition, I have a first cousin who is the same age as me (23) and has a severe learning disability and is non-verbal. I feel very excited to work with Special Needs children, as I have quite a lot of experience and am always up for a new challenge!

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I was 21 years old, I had the opportunity to travel with one of the families I have been lucky enough to work for. This one family in particular has 6 kids and I had worked with their family for about 2 years prior to this vacation we went on. While working with their kids, I was teaching them Spanish. So we took a trip down to Mexico and they practiced their Spanish skills with the local children and hotel staff. I had the time of my life playing on the beach with their children all day and watching movies and reading bedtime stories after dinner and bath time.
