I also have one year of experience working in a preschool with children ages 2–5, assisting the lead teacher and helping foster learning and development in the little ones. Finally, I have a niece whom I have cared for one-on-one on multiple occasions, from the time she was 5 months old through her current age of around 14 months.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a person the family trusts to care for their children! Parents deserve peace of mind, which can be a very hard thing to come by when you have little ones. Knowing that your child is in good hands and will be well taken care of and loved is something that every parent deserves to experience. Nannies have the privilege of committing 100% of their work day to your child. This results in a happy, healthy, and well-cared for child, calm parents, and a happy and fulfilled nanny.
My experience with special needs children...
I have minimal experience working with special needs children, but I have a B.S. in Psychology and spent an extensive amount of time learning about this population in my undergraduate coursework. I'm happy to get further training or take additional classes if necessary!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment probably happened with my own niece! She was still very little, probably around 5 months old, and it was my first time watching her alone for an extended period of time and doing her bedtime routine. Less than an hour in, she fell asleep on my chest after drinking a bottle, and I laid there, unmoving, for probably an hour and a half because I didn't want to wake her. When she woke up, we read some books, did some tummy time, and played with some sensory toys. She went to bed a few hours later, and I remember feeling so grateful for all of that time with her. It was such a simple evening, but it's one of those moments I'll always remember.
