A little bit about me

Hi:):) My name is Samantha Madrid (Dodge), I’m 23, and I am a college student from AZ, but I live in Lebanon TN with my husband:) I go to school at Cumberland and play soccer for the university. I love sports, art, music and kids:) as well as being outdoors. I have 2 associates degrees currently (in psychology and sociology) and I will graduate with a bachelors degree in sports performance next May. Last summer and this summer I have had a job as a youth church camp counselor based in Utah but spread throughout the country. As such, I have traveled a lot and love meeting new people and helping kids to grow where they’re at. As a newlywed, I’m looking to support my husband and be around kids more. As the 2nd oldest of 5 awesome siblings, I’ve had lots of experience growing up with and taking care of many age groups. I also have experience with getting along with people from many backgrounds, as I served a full-time 18 month mission for my church at 19 years old.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have much experience with helping take care of my 5 siblings from growing up. From being the chauffeur for my siblings to sport practices and games, to taking the younger ones on walks and riding bikes to the park, I have a variety of what I enjoy doing with kids. I have had the opportunity to babysit the 4 younger boys of an assistant basketball coach here at my college last year. Since January, I actually had te opportunity to live with a family in Lebanon with 2 kids 3 years old and younger and I spent much of my “at home time” playing with and taking care of them. I also have the experience with youth from the camp I shared about in my bio.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading books, drawing/painting, going on walks or playing at the park. Riding bikes or scooters as well as learning to bake cookies or something simple together.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure that kids experience pure love and feel safe as they treasure these growing up years.

My experience with special needs children...

While I served a mission, we met with a wonderful little girl who was wheelchair bound and we would go to her house and spend time with her doing painting, playing music on the uke and singing, as well as going on walks. I also have been a volunteer with special Olympics in Lebanon this past spring.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Honestly just treasuring the silliest things that the kids say… I have over and over again, come to appreciate the joy kids bring to life, and try to cherish that, even if it comes with the chaos:) those moments make me laugh and make the experience all the more worthwhile!
