My previous relevant experience includes being a nanny (including caring for those with special needs), lifeguard, swim instructor, junior lifeguard facilitator, Girl Scout camp counselor, and student teacher.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy photography, reading, storytelling, journaling, scrapbooking, coloring, playing board and card games, cooking, cycling, swimming, rollerblading, dancing, singing, dressing up, nerf gun wars, building forts, yard games, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I want to be a part of a family where I feel connected to the family I help care for. It is important to me to establish a kind, caring, trusting, and respectful mutual relationship with the family. I want to share the joy I experience daily through things that the children and I can bond and relate to one another. Whether that be through teaching and learning, creating, exercising, or playing. I enjoy children of all ages including babies. I believe babies and children are healing, allowing us to get in touch with our inner child. There is something truly special about being able to experience life through the eyes and heart of a child.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for children on the autism spectrum. I know a bit of American Sign Language as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My first nanny position included caring for a 3-year-old boy on the autism spectrum and his 5-year-old sister. I worked with the boy's speech therapist closely to teach him American Sign Language. I took things at his pace to let him get to know me. Through song and dance, I was able to eventually win him over. After a couple of months of caring for him, he ran to greet me at the door throwing his arms around my legs, and happily saying my name. His mother was overcome with tears of joy. She said, "All I wanted was someone who could get through to him and be kind and loving like you." That experience warmed my heart, and I was thrilled to have the little man warm up to me. The following years were joyful and ones I’ll not soon forget.
