More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I spent all summer of 2024 caring for a sweet two year old girl in the evenings from 3pm-8pm. In total, I spent around 16 hours a week caring for her. We had a set schedule that included the following: My afternoon would begin by doing light house chores and waking her from her nap. Once she was awake we would go to a local park or short hike. After our outdoor activity was over, we would head home and eat dinner. Mom usually had a plan for us but I am comfortable cooking on the spot. Then it was bath time which included helping to wash her hair and use the bathroom. After that it was PJs and quiet time which included building block towers and reading a book. Then it was bed and I would go home for the evening. Nowadays, I still care for this girl on occasion. Sometimes my care includes what is described above, other days I take her swimming at the Y, or care for her from breakfast through lunch. Recommendation from the mother can be provided upon request.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy taking children to parks and on small hikes. I enjoy teaching children about the plants and animals around them.
If it is a day with bad weather, I enjoy playing hide and seek or building block towers. I also like engaging children in cooking meals, I will let them wash the fruit and vegetables, set the table, or stir something with my direct supervision.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is helping a family keep a child warm, happy, and fed. However, to be truly great nanny, you need to do a lot more than just that. As a nanny, I strive to connect with a child and get to know them. I want to know their favorite book, their favorite teacher, and their favorite meal. I also strive to get a child interested in nature and the world around them. I love taking children outside to watch tadpoles turn into frogs, look at trees and streams, or grow a strawberry plant. It is important to me that the child and I form a relationship, I want the child to feel safe with me, trust me, and know that I will listen.
My experience with special needs children...
I do not have any paid work experience with children with special needs. However, I did grow up with an autistic family member so I have an intimate understanding of the struggles that families with special needs children face. I am comfortable learning about your childs unique needs and accommodations if you are willing to share them with me. In addition to this, I have a certification stating that I have spent 15 hours working with Adults with Autism in 2021. I got this certification from Towson University where I took a class called 'Individuals on the Autism Spectrum".
The most important part about being a nanny...
As previously mentioned, I spent all summer of 2024 caring for a 2 year old girl. I spent a lot of time taking her outside in nature and teaching her about the world around her. My favorite nanny moment with her was growing strawberry plants. I let her dig the hole and put the tiny plant, just leaves at the time, in the ground. Each time I saw her we would water and care for it and I would tell her, "If you keep taking care of this, strawberries will come." Soon our hard work began to show as white flowers showed up. Shortly after, young green strawberries began to slowly turn red, ripe and sweet. Finally, we could pick them off the vine and enjoy together. Doing this project together was practice in patience. It also was a lesson on where our food comes from and what it needs to grow.
