Other than being a preschool teacher in Japan, I was also a college tutor for English language for local college students. There was also a short period of time, during my certification, which I was trained to care for children under 1.

I love doing art, going to parks, doing simple cooking, and going on short excursions with kids. Letting them explore the world around them and find something new that they can really “get into” is something amazing.

The most important thing is always to make sure that a child is engaged, safe, and happy. Safety above all is important so at the same time keeping a child stimulated and active is an important balance to keep.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with several children with special needs during my career but one stands out. He was non-verbal and reluctant to engage with others but, while working with his parents, he was able to make friendships and engage with his peers by the end of the school year. That experience is one of my most rewarding moments I have ever experienced.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment with any child is when they discover something new or can accomplish a task on their own. When children are proud of themselves, I am even more proud of them.
