My name is Sara I am 41 years old. I have been formally trained to work with children of all ages. I had my own certified in-home daycare/preschool for 3 years which I absolutely adored. I am also a mother myself, as I survived raising 3 of my own daughters as a single mother who I am proud to say are all happy,healthy, well-rounded,& thriving. I also worked for a non-profit organization out Denver called Illuminate Colorado for 2 years where I facilitated various support groups with both parents and children & assisted parents in recovery from substance abuse in reuniting with their children. With my daughters now adults navigating the world, careers, college and the U.S. Army chasing their dreams and building successful lives for themselves, I still have so much love, nurturing and experience successfully caring for little ones that I am just not ready to throw in the towel yet. I figure God blessed me with a gift and I would love the opportunity to share it with other families!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked with children of various ages, backgrounds, genders and family situations. Some of my experiences came from Sunday school at church, swimming lessons at City Park, volunteering at Dist. 60 schools, as well as my own kids' classrooms, assisted with the girls at competition cheer at Stuntz Academy and I was also a girl scout leader for my daughters troop of 24 girls. ( that was a challenge during cookie sales) I ran my own in certifide in home day care/preschool for 3 years, I was a facilitator for Illuminate Colorado, a nonprofit organization, working with high risk kids and families to eliminate child abuse and reunite families after substance abuse issues were resolved.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love reading to children!! I also enjoy doing arts and crafts, holiday activities and playing along with them during imagination playing such as dress up, playing house, or dollies. I enjoy playing board games and even video games with older children. And with any age group its a great time to bae cookies or team up to make dinner for the family. I actually like helping kids with homework, attending extra curricular activities and sporting events and having family BBQ's, and theme birthday parties!! Family movie night is also one of my personal favs!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have never been an actual "nanny" but I have done more babysitting that I can even remember and I did run my own home daycare and what I found that's really important that can commonly get overlooked is to be on the same page with the parents. As part time care givers to other parents kids its important to remember to work together as a team and to always honor and respect the way the parents want their child/children to cared for. Children can pick up on hostile environments and situations alot more than many adults realize and it can really have a negative impact on the little ones. So its very important to have open communication, the upmost trust and respect between caregivers and parents so that the family can work together smoothly like a team!!

My experience with special needs children...

With the exception of a couple of mild cases of ADHD, I really haven't worked with many children with special needs. However, I am very open amd willing to learn how to best care for their little needs just the same as any other child. Im a fast learner and don't mind taking constructive criticism whole im learning.
