A little bit about me

I am a high school speech and debate coach, former engineer/project manager, and current MBA student looking to nanny while I am in school. My program is online so my hours are pretty flexible, but I would prefer to not work too late into the evenings so that I can get home and enjoy dinner with my own family sometimes :)

I worked for years as a lifeguard, so while I have not kept the certification up to date, the skills are still there and I remain extremely vigilant around bodies of water, especially when children are present.

Finally, I have 5+ years of tutoring experience in all subjects ranging from phonics and basic addition to advanced collegiate writing and multivariable calculus. I do speak Spanish on an intermediate level, but not quite fluent. Hit me up for all your homework needs!

More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Anything that gets their brains and bodies active! I am all about picnics and playtime at the park, building reading forts with blankets on a rainy day, and allowing children to take the lead with imaginative play. While screens have a place, it is usually not with me (unless there is illness or other special circumstance).

I have a background in dance and theater so I am known for helping kids put on shows for their parents if that is their thing, or less performance-inclined children may enjoy my inclination towards arts and crafts.

My experience with special needs children...

I spent many summers working at Camp Friendship out in Annandale supporting the social, personal, and medical needs of campers with developmental, intellectual, and/or physical disabilities. These are some of my most cherished memories and are one of the reasons that I am pursuing my MBA with a concentration in Nonprofit Management-- so that I can work in disability advocacy someday.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I once received a colored-in and cut-out star from a child that said "striktst nanny" [sic] because I wouldn't let her eat ice cream for lunch... to this day it just makes me chuckle.
