I LOVE getting away from the screens and going outside. I love exploring cool things around our area. I also love a good calm movie day if it’s rainy :)
The most important part about being a nanny...
Engaging with the children most of the day. Yes? Children will get tired or overstimulated and need a break. But really going out and enjoying the world or just finding fun things to do to pass the time is really important. Also building a relationship, respect comes when you have a good relationship with the children.
My experience with special needs children...
I work as a connections para dealing with children on the autism spectrum with severe communication barriers. I have a worked and been trained in the use of CSI (crisis safety intervention). I have use AAC devices to communicate with children and help them communicate. I have worked with very aggressive children and am also trained in de-escalation. I love going out and doing things no matter the challenge and finding small (or big) wins whenever I can.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Honestly anytime they convince me to take them somewhere. I love any kid I watch and seeing their faces light up at something fun or interesting makes all the hard things worth it!
