A little bit about me

While I have no former training I am 42 and have my own 2-year-old son and a 22-year-old daughter and a brand new grandson as of March of 2023 so I am fully able to take care of any age. My son stays with his father who is my fiance during the day because we are in the process of very slowly moving to a new area near Joliet with my son's father however I am waiting another year or two as I am waiting to sell the house I purchased here in Wauconda 4 years ago has a little more paid off before it's sold. And as I am not certified or in CPR I did have my most recent child my two year old son in October of 2020 and and fully aware of how to do the CPR on incense and small children because they don't even let you leave the hospital before you know that. I know what small children can and can't eat and while I am a great fun mother my fiance calls me a bit of a watchdog because I Can't Take My Eyes Off of children because they can get into so much. I also have my own reliable vehicle

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

While I'm not a certified nanny or babysitter, I DO have a 2 year old son, a 22 year old daughter, and a BRAND NEW grandson so I am well versed in child care from infant to teenage angst 😊 and up to date with everything it takes to take care of children. The best part is with my son being 2 I'm very much in constant watch and mother hen mode because I know there's nothing that can't happen if small ones aren't watched constantly.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Depending on age I'll play with small toys, and the little ones will play with one toy for about 30 seconds before they're distracted by another toy and then another toy, as my son does. I also enjoy reading to them, and teaching even when they're crawling it's never to early. Educational TV if allowed ( with babies television actually helps with their eye development in small doses). I enjoy preparing meals (made my own baby food for my 2 yr old until he graduated to other food then made good nutritious solid food after that). When they are old enough to start playing games I enjoy that. I really just enjoy everything. I had so much fun raising my now 22-year-old daughter and still raising my two-year-old son. I also know a lot of creative art projects for every age child. I know how to keep them busy so that when it is time to either nap or go to bed they go right to sleep.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part about being a nanny is to be in tune with the child. Know what they need and meet that need. And also always be patient. I see people get frustrated with children and you just can't do that because it does not help the child. Everything you do has to be for the good of that child. You can't let them get bored you have to keep them occupied when they want to be active and if they are hungry they need to be fed and if they are tired they need to sleep. You need to keep them happy and always be positive around them. Its so important to learn a child's rhythm and schedule and stick to it so they have a routine. Patience and positivity is the key to a happy child. And also find out how they feel. Are they happy? Are they feeling silly? Are they sad? And if there anything except happy and healthy, do what you can to change it

My experience with special needs children...

My two-year-old son is seeing a speech pathologist. I was a junior counselor at what was considered a summer day camp at Maine East High School when I was in high school and all of the children I looked after up to age six or seven all had special needs such as cerebral palsy or down syndrome or severe autism. I am very patient and help them with everything. And while my son does not necessarily have physical special needs he was very late in learning to crawl and now speak. I am well versed in having to give medication at certain times if that's needed. So while I have not necessarily babysat any special needs children I did grow up with my cousin who had cerebral palsy. And again while children are not animals I do specifically take care of two special needs cats so I am very tuned in to needs and very attentive to any one or thing that needs extra help. Again, I am not comparing pets to children by any means but between them and my kids, I've learned to see a need and meet it.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Well my favorite moment with my own 2 year old son was teaching him to crawl and then walk. He was behind developmentally so helping him to get to those milestones and seeing him finally do those things and excel in them made me so proud and made every moment of my life so worth it. And he's running now and talking and it's such a gift to me to see him doing things that he could not do before.

I absolutely love working with children! I believe in creating a fun, hands-on, and active environment, where kids can thrive, stay engaged, and, most importantly, stay away from too much screen time. Hello! I hope you and your family are safe, healthy, and happy. My name is Hannah, I am a 22 y/o fully vaccinated First Aid CPR and AED certified student with ample experience in child care. I began babysitting locally in middle school. I have been a corporate babysitter, where I babysat up to 12 children of ages 5 weeks-13 years. I worked as a Kindergarten-Prep teacher at a facility, primarily teaching 3-5-year-olds, with occasional subbing for rooms with infants-7-year-olds. Most recently, I have been the nanny for the same family since June 2020. In this position, I create and implement multidisciplinary lesson plans as well as keep the 3 children active, happy and healthy with no screen time. My core values are loving-kindness, education and emotional intelligence. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have and provide references!
