A little bit about me

Hi, I’m Shantana. I’m a kind, compassionate, and caring person born and raised in Jamaica and migrated to the u.s when I was 20 years old. As the oldest of my siblings, caregiving has always been a part of my day-to-day. So, naturally, I turned to childcare as a profession at the age of 16, and I’ve never looked back. My background caring for infants and toddlers started when I worked as a pre-school assistant in the daycare at my high school. After high school I went on to community college where I studied Early Childhood Education and obtained a diploma. I’ve been working in childcare for the last 10 years and I enjoy every minute of it. I and am CPR & First Aid certified.

I was a preschool teacher’s assistant for one year.
I volunteered in day cares back in Jamaica and also volunteered at preschool. On special days like teachers appreciation day I’ll go in and take cover a class while teachers gets to relax for the day.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Patience. Patience is one of the most important skills for nannies. As a nanny, you will spend hours and hours with children so you will need to be able to handle their mood swings and behaviours without losing your temper or becoming outwardly irritated.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was when my previous nanny kids came back to the us to visit over the summer and nk g5 who I have been with since birth hugged me so tight and said “I love you Shantana and miss you so much, can you come to live with us? You can take Nev & J (my children) with you!”
