I'm a proud Mom of two grown sons and live each day to its fullest. I have a strong faith in God, love of family and friends, a passion to help others, and a need to get outside and hike often. I exercise, eat healthy (most of the time!), bake, cook, play guitar, sell on eBay, take nature photos, write letters, and enjoy life. I stay positive and remember to be grateful to overcome the urge to complain. I love pets, have no known allergies, and believe I connect easily with people of all ages. I could work part-time; however, I prefer full-time hours.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I've been a babysitter, an umpire, substitute teacher and tutor. My greatest experiences gained for childcare is being a Mom for two sons, Aunt for two nieces and, a houseparent for a total of 22 boys ages 10-17.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Making sure all activities are age-appropriate and that safety is a priority are two non-negotiable requirements for any activity. The indoor activities include reading, crafts (coloring, painting, etc...) baking, building tents, playing with dolls, trucks, building blocks, hide-n-seek, puzzles, and imagination play. (Think beauty salon or science lab) Outdoor activities range from sports, bike riding, nature walks, collecting leaves, snow angels, rake, collect stones, lay on blankets and look at clouds while deciding what they look like. And, naturally, what the child(ren) would want to do. Learning basic math, science, reading and reading comprehension, and other subjects are important for me to incorporate in the daily routine of child care.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Open communication between the family and me. Taking care of myself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually (I believe in Jesus)

My experience with special needs children...

I was a live-in nanny for a high-functioning, verbal autistic boy. We taught each other Spanish, made food together, created block cities where we role played with action figures, had lemonade sales, raked, cleaned my car, did household chores and watched fun, educational TV shows. I took him to a gifted pre-school, city parks and our favorite: Krispy Kreme. He flourished in learning social skills and eventually became a big brother. I miss him and keep in touch with his Mom and family. (She can easily be a reference, if needed.)
