More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

In my neighborhood there are a handful of parents who are unable to afford child care or are just having a very difficult time right now. So I’ve been helping out by watching the children of whoever may need my help. I’m always willing to negotiate because honestly, it’s not about the money to me. I want to help whoever needs it and make sure that the children come first. Growing up I always was in charge of dinner, cleaning, and watching my younger family members. It’s brought me such joy to see kids succeed and the amazing things they do never cease to amaze me. I know it’s difficult times right now so if there’s anything I can do to help I would love to. I’ve helped with pick up/drop offs to school as well as extra curricular activities or any other events. I love giving back. And I truly believe children are absolute treasures who can teach us a lot and of course we teach them too.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Arts and crafts, walks, parks, sports, board games, yoga, computer games, video games, any thing they can think of! Imagination is key!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Well.. Honestly I don't feel as though there's just one important part to be a nanny. My experience as a nanny has shown me that there are a number of essential aspects which all share equal importance such as establishing a sense of trust, showing understanding and patience, respecting the family, forming a bond, consistently promoting the child's development and well being.

My experience with special needs children...

I have some experience with nannying for a 15 year old boy who had mild autism and had difficulties making friends his age, he preferred to play video games and go to places like Chuck E. Cheese so we took everything slow and did things at his pace. He really enjoyed the fact that I was able to play the games he liked and play them well! He slowly started coming out of his shell at school and began talking to people with some more confidence which his mother insists had a lot to do with my presence.

The most important part about being a nanny...

A few years ago I was watching a 5 year old boy and his 3 year old sister for a few weeks. And every time I came over the boy would have a new drawing he did just for me and his little sister would be standing there next to him just waiting to give me flowers she had just picked for me. It melted my heart every time and even to this day, I still have the flowers and drawings saved in a memory box.
