A little bit about me

I have spent the majority of my life learning, working, and serving as a caregiver, caring for a broad spectrum of age groups, from infant to geriatric, including special needs individuals. I have gained insight and experience working through private companies, the state of Maryland, the public school system and self-employment. I consistently strive to improve by perpetually engaging in courses, certifications, seminars, select research, and volunteer work. The work that I commit to is an extension of who I am. I strive to to provide the best service possible to everyone I work with. I truly enjoy the challenge of adapting to each individual's needs and applying my hard-earned skills, utilizing strategies of unique and superior care. My career path as a caregiver, educator, childcare provider, nanny and personal assistant was easy to choose because it chose me. If you are seeking a skilled, dependable, hardworking and trustworthy caregiver, please reach out to me.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

In addition to raising four rambunctious sons, I have been a nanny for several families of all ages and needs. I served as a one-on-one for the school for a LFI student. I also cared for children as a special needs bus assistant, taking care to keep them safe and comfortable going to and from school, and meeting any special requirements their unique situations warranted.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

...include coloring. taking walks, putting puzzles together, teaching early learning skills (colors, abc's, numbers, counting, etc.), reading, taking walks, going to the library, and engaging them in other fun activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

...is meeting the needs of the whole child. While safety is a huge priority, so is being a positive role model to the child. Lovingly setting healthy boundaries and providing structure while also being flexible and sensitive to the child's needs is essential. Caring for the emotional well-being of the child is very important as well.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked with special needs children, both on the bus and in the classroom. It was a very rewarding experience. I have worked with children who have a variety of special needs, including autism. I was an aid under Howard County and Carroll County Contractors.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was working with a child, teaching her how to write her own name. This entailed several weeks of diligent practice. One day when I went into work, the little girl made me a handmade card with her name signed on it. She did it all by herself, and I was proud of her. Sometimes as a nanny, you don't see concrete results for your investment of time, energy and effort. I think this is one of my favorite nanny moments because I was able to see the "fruits of my labor". It was not only a reflection of her new-found skill, but also of her character as she displayed kindness and gratitude. Nannying is about more than physical care and educational growth. It is also about nurturing strength of character. To see it exemplified in one small act was very rewarding.
