I would interview with expectant parents and start caring for their newborns usually at 6 weeks of age. These children were very special to me and I loved every one of them!
After 7 years I retired from daycare to pursue a career as a professional longarm quilter. However I continued to work with children teaching 4 year old church, and later I taught 2 year old Sunday School. This was for a period of 8 years. I also volunteered in my church infant nursery.
