I have been working with children for about five years now in camp settings. I graduated from the University of Maine in Spring 2025 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Anthropology. In the fall, I drove across the country to work at an environmental education camp, where I teach children about the outdoors through hands-on lessons and integration in the outdoors. Aside from my professional life, I enjoy being outdoors; whether it’s kayaking, hiking, or laying in my hammock reading. I also love to spend my time doing crafts, especially sewing and crocheting!

I worked as a day-camp counselor through the Y for three summers. I also spent a summer working as a classroom aide at Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center, where I worked closely with children with special needs. Currently, I am working at an environment education overnight camp in California, where I teach children about the importance of the outdoors, while also teaching them valuable life skills.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for preschool-kindergarten aged children with special needs for about 3 months. The special needs of these children varied, but primarily included children with autism, many being nonverbal.
